Upon its initial release, Battlefront II suffered from a major controversy and backlash due to the way in which its microtransactions and loot boxes were handled. Though it needs little introduction, Star Wars Battlefront II is a first/third person shooter which lets you “Put your mastery of the blaster, lightsaber, and the Force to the test online and offline” across many of Star Wars’ most iconic locations. The game is currently available for free until the 21st of January. This week, the storefront is offering a major AAA title in the form of EA’s Star Wars Battlefront II: Celebration Edition. Don't expect much in way of a storyline or campaign- just enjoy the game for it's frantic combat. Each week, the Epic Games Store offers a free game or two to those with an Epic account. This is a great game to play when you have just a few minutes of spare time or if you feel like blowing away a whole evening. Plus, you can switch which class you want to be in the middle of a game, so you can easily re act to your opponent's tactics. The different soldier classes present you with opportunities to contribute on the battlefield in different ways- I like this because it suits multiple playstyles. I find both experiences to be enjoyable, but I'm glad this game focuses on you being a normal soldier. When you do want to mash faces, you have the chance to play as heroes/jedi, which is a fun break from normal combat. In this one, when you die, you come back and resume the fight. The fact that you get to be a soldier on the frontlines, making a difference in combat, is a phenomenal idea versus other games where you're some super soldier designed to obliterate the enemy. This is one of the better star wars games that have been released. Good game, Lots of action, Lacking in plot. If your looking for great air/space combat, you probably can do better. If you like first person shooters, don't hesitate. If you like Star Wars at all, this is worth the money. I probably own all the StarWars games, in part because I love the genre but also because the games push the envelope in terms of innovation and richness. Still, LucasArts has never really failed to bring me great entertainment. I grew frustrated with the space combat sequences and will probably avoid the campaign games because of it. I don't really aim to learn how to fly a starship, I just want to blow off steam, shoot stuff and enjoy the pyrotechnics. As an older gamer, I found this very disorienting. But having previously played the Jedi Starfighter series, I feel that this element of Battlefron lacks playability. Again, the graphics are rich and vibrant. The campaign game includes space combat, u sually prior to any land actions. Once you get your mojo as a regular soldier, you'll be interrupted with the option of transfering to a really badass character, who with the sweep of a lightsaber can clean up scores of the enemy. One really fun aspect of the land battles is fighting as a Jedi or Sith Lord. Some new landscapes like the Death Star, Leia's blockade runner and Coruscant add breadth of landscapes. There are land battles on Tatooine, Geonosis and Kashyyk, for example that feel a lot like the scenarios from the original game. I soon mastered each battlefield.īattlefront II offers a much of the same attributes. I bought the first Battlefront almost two years ago and loved the rich graphics, pumping music score, ease of play and multitude of options. Good ground combat, awkward space battles Verified purchase: Yes | Condition: Pre-owned If you want to be a wampa fending off an entire reb el force or fighting as and alongside the Ewoks of Endor, ‘‘tis will play out a lot more smoothly than you’d expect. So I won’t be coming back to this company I’ll be coming back to THIS game. Space battles feel truly epic, galactic conquest feels like a soldier bulging an empire, and hunt makes for hilarious couch conversation. This game is very much limited by the hardware, but you can’t feel it. This doesn’t work if one game is WAY better than the rest, in this case not just of the series but the genre entirely. This game is from a less greedy time and seems to use the philosophy that if your company makes large, group play, and most importantly fun games, costumers will keep coming back. No hunt mode, most features aren’t local co-op, but I’m here to talk about the original. The new Star Wars battlefront 2 uses the proven favorite pay-to-win system.
